Publishing Changes to the Front-End With Immediate Effect
Cincom’s Intelligent Guidance components use the Cincom Knowledge Master (CKM) repository and caching implementation to provide fast deployment times and improved reliability to all registrar workstations.
This provides hospitals the benefit of flexibility when changing their business processes knowing that these changes can be quickly reflected in their registration guidance. Additionally, the repository implementation is designed to work with the network that is already available in the hospital, eliminating any requirement to upgrade the hospital network infrastructure to run Intelligent Guidance components.
All Cincom Knowledge Master workstations share a common Cincom Knowledge Master repository. Whenever hospitals need to create or change a guide, message, or other component data, an administrator uses the administration tool to make the changes in the “edit” version of the file. After the changes are tested, the administrator publishes the files to the “production” repository. From there, all of the workstations automatically download the updated version. The advantage is that changes are immediately available to all users without manually installing the changes on each workstation.
To improve reliability and performance, all files needed for a given application are cached on each workstation. Using the cache, file access is much faster than it would be if access was handled through the server. Caching also provides extra fault tolerance if either the network or the file server is unavailable.
The repository system supports a variety of schemes for updating the local cache files. Options for updating the files vary from checking every time a file is going to be used, to never checking the files, to updating the files in the background every few minutes. These options provide the flexibility to balance the speed with which updates are available against the performance characteristics of the network.

The Cincom COB Master takes a list of insurance-plan codes and orders them based on a set of rules. Cincom COB Master sorts the insurance codes/mnemonics and returns the sorted list. When the rules for ordering rely on answers to the Medicare Secondary Payer questionnaire, the Cincom COB Master ensures that only the relevant questions are asked and then uses the answers to determine the proper coordination of benefits.

Cincom Format Master contains many different functions that can manipulate or test values and return results. For example, one client required their state Medicaid numbers to always be nine digits. Cincom Format Master addresses this and a variety of other value formatting and testing issues.
